Last summer, IG Wealth Management was among more than 40 Winnipeg-based companies and organizations that added their names to the city's Indigenous Accord. Signatories to the Accord are required to report yearly on the success of their efforts and their future goals.

One of the acts of reconciliation being offered at head office in Winnipeg is the Kairos Blanket Exercise which was created in 1997 by KAIROS, and developed in response to the 1996 Report of the Royal Commission on Aboriginal People.

We welcome you to attend!

As part of our 2019 diversity and inclusion initiatives we are offering an incredibly immersive and interactive experience that leaves a lasting impression on attendees.

During this experience you will learn about:

  • Policies and actions that have affected (and continue to affect) Indigenous Peoples
  • The world of the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island, who were its original inhabitants
  • The importance of having difficult conversations to effect positive change for the future

You will walk away with a greater clarity and empathy regarding indigenous peoples which can assist in your interactions with clients and prospects.

A minimum of 15 people will be required for a session to run.

Drive Business Success Through Effective Media Engagement – Media Training 101

Monday, October 21, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Québec City Convention Centre

Done right, media relations is a cost effective marketing tool that can increase awareness of your business and differentiate you among competitors in your community. It allows you to engage with your audiences to showcase your expertise around topics that matter to them. However, speaking with a journalist also entails a certain amount of risk so it’s important you’re prepared.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the different categories of media.
  • Know when to engage with a journalist- and when not to.
  • Gain exposure to the “media engagement process”- how to prepare for an interview and insight on the skills and techniques to ensure your messages are effectively communicated.
  • Get familiar with corporate policies around media engagement- who is allowed to do speak to media and under what circumstances.
